How to Post a Housing Contract for Sale
Limited space is available for resident students at most colleges. This circumstance has led to the sale of housing contracts. Each contract is made between a student and the school; when a student no longer needs his contract, he can post it for sale to another student. Certain conditions must be met, though they vary from college to college. Selling your housing contract doesn't mean you aren't liable for damage you did to the property, but it can absolve you from the remainder of your financial obligation to the college.

Read your residential housing agreement. If you no longer have a copy, you can obtain one from your residential life office. Some colleges post them online. Many colleges suggest places -- like school websites or bulletin boards -- to sell your housing contract. The agreement will also advise you about how to sell your contract properly. You will have to use a specific form and may have to get official signatures to sell your contract.
2Post your contract on the school's designated housing contract site according to the directions from your residential life office.
3Print out fliers advertising your housing contract. Include the date of the contract, the requirements for accepting the contract and your contact information.
4Post the fliers around campus. Some schools require permission from the student life office or another group to post fliers. Follow the rules of your school.
5Post fliers in local coffee shops, bookstores and other places students frequent.
6Advertise the housing contract on social networking sites and apartment finding websites. Listing the contract at the sites where people from your college look for housing will help you find the widest and most relevant audience.
