How to Find a Place to Rent With Bad Credit
A favorable credit rating has always been essential when finding a place to rent. In recent years, however, varying economic forces have engouraged landlords to relax their credit standards to accommodate those with lower credit scores. Some, for example, do not run credit checks. Others may consider tenants who had a good rent history, or a reference from an employer or financial institution. In short, good credit is preferable; but not entirely necessary to secure a suitable rental home in today's market.

Obtain a copy of your credit report from at least one of the three major credit bureaus. Having a credit report on hand will help you explain any negative aspects in you credit history when negotiating with a landlord. Also, knowing your credit score and history also demonstrates responsibility and due diligence.
2Search for rental properties on the Internet, classified ads and through word of mouth, that may offer flexibility in credit leasing terms. Properties that require no credit checks or those referred by people you know may yield more promising results.
3Explain in advance any negative information that might surface on a credit check when applying or interviewing for a lease. Such candor can lessen the effect of any negative credit feedback. Also, provide any references from employers, landlords or creditors that can prove character and reliability.
4Enlist a co-signer with a good credit rating, if no other recourse is available.
